Our number one concern and request from many of our clients is to get rid of the hyperpigmentation. Hyperpigmentation is classified as darkened areas on the face - produced by an overproduction of melanin and can be brown, black, grey, red, or pink. Pigmentation can be caused by the skins reaction to inflammation - wether it be from UV rays, or from a breakout. Melanosomes are sent to protect the cells nucleus from damage. Hyperpigmentation can get worse with exposure to the sun, hormones, heat, or harsh ingredients that irritate the skin. This concern can also be tricky to treat, as it takes time, proper skincare, and treatments that won't make it worse. A great way to measure how quickly you can rid your pigmentation is how long you’ve had it.

For example, you’ve been dealing with a dark spot for 3 months, and you’ve finally decided to get products to help reduce it, typically at the 3-month mark is when you may start to see it reduced (depending on the product and the active ingredient).

When deciding on the right products, you first have to look at the right ingredients. What does the product contain that will help reduce hyperpigmentation. You'll want to increase cellular turnover, incorporate tyrosinase inhibitors, and brighten the skin.

Here’s a look at some key ingredients that are safe for all skin types and will target pigmentation:

  • Arbutin

  • Kojic Acid

  • Licorice Root Extract

  • Azelaic Acid

  • Vitamin C

  • Niacinamide

  • Retinoids

  • Mequinol

  • Soy proteins

  • N-Acetylglycosamine

Now let's take a look at some of GLOW’s skincare products that contains some of these amazing ingredients:
