Struggling to keep your face from looking shiny throughout the day?

Here are some easy tips on how to keep your makeup looking flawless and shine free throughout the day.

1. Always prime your skin first.

Primer is great for making sure your makeup stays on longer and it helps prevent your skin from looking oily throughout the day. Apply an oil-free primer to the oiliest parts of your face such as the T zone (forehead, nose and chin).

2. Do not overdo powder.

Over powdering your face causes your pores to push out more oil. Apply translucent powder to your problem areas.

3. Go oil-free.

Since your skin naturally produces more than enough oil, make sure you invest in makeup products that are oil free and noncomedogenic (means it does not clog your pores). Best to find blush, primer and foundation that are oil free.

*Also try to find facial cleansers and toners that are infused with glycolic acid or try to use products with salicylic acid to reduce excess oil.

4. Look for “long wear.”

Try to find products like foundation or concealer that are considered “long lasting/long wearing” since they are formulated with specific ingredients that will keep your makeup budge-free.

5. Try matte products.

Matte products help to keep your skin from looking oily. Try matte primers and foundations to limit the amount of shine & stay clear from dewy foundations.

6. Carry blotting papers.

No matter how flawless and matte your makeup may look in the morning, that does not mean it will stay that way midday. The best thing to carry with you when you have oily skin is blotting papers. Just simply blot away when you're looking oily.

*Best way to use blotting papers is to press the paper where you're oily and roll it off your skin. This helps prevent taking off your makeup and is the most effective way of lifting away the excess oil.

7. Blot before reapplying.

A common mistake is applying powder and assuming that it will solve your oily problem. A great way to remove the excess oil and limit the shine throughout the day is to blot away the oil then reapply powder.

Try integrating these steps into your daily routine to limit your midday shine.

I know you all have a daily makeup routine, but do you have a makeup brush cleaning routine?

Now more than ever we should be sanitizing everything - don’t overlook your makeup brushes!

5 reasons why cleaning your brushes regularly is very important:

1. Makeup brushes accumulate bacteria over time when they are not cleaned, which can cause acne breakouts and other skin conditions.

2. Makeup brushes also accumulate dead skin cells and oil, leading to clogged pores and further breakouts.

3. Dirty brushes can cause irritation and redness to your skin if the brush hairs quality is not looked after.

4. Dirty brushes will further contaminate your makeup products, as all the bacteria, oil and dirt will transfer onto your products after continued use.

5. Makeup build up does not allow for smooth application.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It is important to clean your makeup brushes regularly as part of your beauty routine to remove any makeup residue and more importantly, any bacteria that can be bad for your skin and health.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Cleaning your brushes is a simple and easy task using the Glo Makeup Brush Cleaner.

Follow these 3 simple steps for a quick clean:

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

1. After using each brush, spray with Glo Makeup Brush Cleaner.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

2. Gently wipe the brush against a clean paper towel to remove spray and makeup.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

3. Allow brushes to fully dry before your next makeup application.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Cleaning your brushes with the Glo Makeup Brush Cleaner can be done as often as everyday, but deep cleaning (with the brush cleaner and water) is recommended weekly.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

For a deep clean follow these 4 steps:

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

1. Rinse brush hairs under water, with the brush handle up, ensuring no water enters the base of the brush.

2. Squeeze out excess water from the brush hairs and spray with the Glo Makeup Brush Cleaner.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

3. Use the palm of your hand as a surface to clean your brush, swirling the brush in circles to get the residue makeup out.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

4. Give your brush another good rinse with water, squeeze out excess water, and leave to dry.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Glo Makeup brush cleaner is a great option as it helps reduce bacteria that can grow on your brushes. With a pleasant smell, this fast drying product is sure to make your beauty routine even easier!

Other tips on how to take care of your makeup brushes:

-Spray your brushes with a brush cleaner for a quick clean between colour changes

-Avoid getting the ferrule (base of the brush) wet during washing - this will prevent the glue from getting soft so that the makeup brush hairs don't become loose and start falling out

-Ensure your makeup brushes dry in a downward position, to further ensure no water gets into the ferrule

-Always store your makeup brushes in a clean container, and keep covered if stored in the bathroom

-Never share your makeup brushes with anyone

-Opt for makeup brushes that are animal friendly (faux hair)

Remember: clean brushes means cleaner makeup which means cleaner skin.

At GLOW Beauty Bar, we are known for our luxury skincare treatments, but did you know we also offer hair and makeup services, too? It’s true, from brides to big events, we are here to get you ready starting with customized skin treatments to full glam.

Are you planning your big day? Congrats! We offer a full service menu for brides and the wedding party. But, the question is, do you know what you want? It can be tricky to decide the exact look for your wedding day. Here are the hottest bridal trends for hair and makeup this year, which ones are your favourite?

1. Blushing Bride

A rosy glow is a must during your big day! A new take on the whole ‘blushing bride’ ask for a cream blush over powder for a naturally blushing look.

2. Your Hair Your Way

Gone are the days of stiff and dramatic updos, and say hello to carefree ways to wear your hair. Think loose waves, a low bun, and playing with your hair’s natural texture.

3. ‘Bronze’ Eyed Girl

Typically in the past, neutral taupe shades or a dramatic smokey eye were the ways to go. In 2020, we are opting with glam bronze for our eye makeup. A little more fun than taupe hues, but not as bold as a smokey eye, a bronze shadow is the perfect in-between and looks amazing on all eye colours!

4. Lip Service

Lip colour is a trend that is ever changing. For a while, we saw matte lips were the way to go, and remember when high gloss was a must? Today, a lip tint is all you need. A natural looking, pop of colour that rounds off your look, without worrying about leaving a lip print on all of your guests.

5. Hair Jewelry

We know that veils are a classic look for every bride, but if you are looking to change up your bridal hair, why not a jewelled headband? A trendy way to add some glam to your look, in a fashion forward way!

6. Go For The Glow

We may be biased, but a bronzed bride in a white dress is always a good idea. Adding a healthy glow is always on trend, and with GLOW Beauty Bar’s spray tan service, we can guarantee you will have a natural looking glow on your big day!

Which 2020 bridal trend is your favourite? Let us know.
