Struggling to keep your face from looking shiny throughout the day?
Here are some easy tips on how to keep your makeup looking flawless and shine free throughout the day.
1. Always prime your skin first.
Primer is great for making sure your makeup stays on longer and it helps prevent your skin from looking oily throughout the day. Apply an oil-free primer to the oiliest parts of your face such as the T zone (forehead, nose and chin).
2. Do not overdo powder.
Over powdering your face causes your pores to push out more oil. Apply translucent powder to your problem areas.
3. Go oil-free.
Since your skin naturally produces more than enough oil, make sure you invest in makeup products that are oil free and noncomedogenic (means it does not clog your pores). Best to find blush, primer and foundation that are oil free.
*Also try to find facial cleansers and toners that are infused with glycolic acid or try to use products with salicylic acid to reduce excess oil.
4. Look for “long wear.”
Try to find products like foundation or concealer that are considered “long lasting/long wearing” since they are formulated with specific ingredients that will keep your makeup budge-free.
5. Try matte products.
Matte products help to keep your skin from looking oily. Try matte primers and foundations to limit the amount of shine & stay clear from dewy foundations.
6. Carry blotting papers.
No matter how flawless and matte your makeup may look in the morning, that does not mean it will stay that way midday. The best thing to carry with you when you have oily skin is blotting papers. Just simply blot away when you're looking oily.
*Best way to use blotting papers is to press the paper where you're oily and roll it off your skin. This helps prevent taking off your makeup and is the most effective way of lifting away the excess oil.
7. Blot before reapplying.
A common mistake is applying powder and assuming that it will solve your oily problem. A great way to remove the excess oil and limit the shine throughout the day is to blot away the oil then reapply powder.
Try integrating these steps into your daily routine to limit your midday shine.
